On Pause
Your life feels like it is on pause. What used to be passing thoughts have become insurmountable, constantly bouncing around in your mind, distracting you, overwhelming you–what is gender? Who am I? I wish my body looked different? What does this mean?
Sleep is restless, and the anxiety is all-consuming. You can’t stop thinking, “Will I ever be able to be who I truly feel I am?”
Perhaps you keep searching for the right words to explain these feelings, the right way. But searching only results in more questions and sometimes more confusion. There is so much information out there; it’s overwhelming!
Some feelings and thoughts may make you worry, leaving you in a state of shame and guilt. Sometimes it’s so hard to get anything done–frozen.
The Labels
Questions of gender are tough to sort out on your own. Many of us were not taught how to talk about gender or given the language to describe and understand how social systems influence experiences of gender in our society and how that affects us as an individual. Sometimes counseling can provide a safe space to talk about and develop the language to express how we think and feel about our gender/gender expression; as well as, how our gender experience is a part of the systems in our life.
Whether you have been out for years or are exploring your options, it doesn’t matter the label you use. You deserve to have the authentic life you dream of for yourself and a space to explore how you think and feel.

What is Gender Counseling?
Similar to individual therapy, I utilize a therapeutic relationship to work on the identified goals that you set for yourself, at the pace that you establish.

If your gender journey involves medical interventions, you will be provided competent and swift letter writing for these procedures.
