Individual Therapy

It’s all too much.

Things are overwhelming right now.

Day by day, you struggle to get by, feeling disheartened by how things have turned out. You have little hope!

You might be wondering, “Are things always going to be this challenging?”

Words like “depression,” “anxiety,” “bipolar,” or “addict” keep buzzing in your mind, making you feel like they could apply to your life.

The Whole Picture

However, as you reflect, there is another layer – you are queer. Being queer is a part of your identity and is an aspect of your life that is causing you to feel overwhelmed.

Coming out is on your mind – “Is it safe? Is the time right for me?” You are aware of the social and political climate at large, and that awareness distracts you.

You’re not alone. The overwhelmed feeling you have been experiencing is natural, and it doesn’t have to be the end of your story.

You recognize that something needs to change in your life, but you are unsure where to start. Individual Therapy is an option.

Individual Therapy is investing in your wellness.

If you’re thinking about individual therapy, you may be trying to hold everything together but are at a point where it just is too much.

Perhaps you had a recent event happen that put you over the edge or have unprocessed events from your past that are still causing pain today.

Whatever led you to this point, you feel tired and ready to invest in your wellness.

It’s time to try individual therapy.

What is therapy anyway?

Individual therapy is a healing relationship developed over time in a caring and safe space. In this space, you can express needs and tell your stories. Every aspect of your life is fair game because there is no judgment here. The goal in this place is for you to gain confidence.

Individual therapy helps you identify and accomplish your goals. There is no rush – you set the pace.

Our role is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance while providing you with the tools necessary to achieve your goals.

Establishing a relationship between you and your therapist is essential, and as such, we consider this to be of high priority. This connection allows us to navigate strong emotions as we discuss challenging topics. Don’t worry – having those emotions is a natural part of therapy.

The process of individual therapy can result in gaining confidence in who you are and what you want for the future. Imagine that feeling when you finally get to where you want to be!

Life had become ‘too much.’

Ruby* finally decided to seek individual therapy because she felt depressed, anxious about everything, and did not want to hang out with her friends.

Ruby also recently came out to her family, which didn’t go well, and she was fighting back sadness and guilt about who she feels she truly is. She found herself drinking more and more and felt rather hopeless about her future.

She identified several therapeutic goals for herself, including feeling more in control of her worry, being more satisfied with life, and letting go of her family’s perspectives of who she should be.

With weekly meetings, Ruby worked toward her goals in a space where she received compassion, support, and empathy. She noticed changes after a few weeks and began to build momentum quickly.

Within a few months, she found that she looked forward to her therapy sessions and obtained great relief following each session.

Things changed for Ruby.

Now, when Ruby reflects, she feels confident as a queer woman.

She can stop her worry before it overruns her whole body allowing her to enjoy life.

All that depression, it’s mostly gone! She looks forward to her day and shares experiences with friends. She feels hopeful about her future and finds herself coping with stressors in healthy ways.

Ruby has found that individual therapy is essential for her wellness, and she continues with regular meetings.
